Microsoft launches its own cybersecurity model MAI-Cyber-1-Flash but still depends on OpenAI for the toughest tasks

Microsoft unveiled MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, a compact AI cybersecurity model built into its MDASH multi-agent system.

The company says MDASH reaches about 96% on CyberGym, outperforms Gemini, GPT and Mythos, and can cut costs by roughly half.

Harder security cases are escalated to OpenAI’s GPT-5.4, while Microsoft handles most routine tasks in-house.

Microsoft also announced Perception, an agent-based system for real-time threat monitoring and mitigation.
