Microsoft Says Its New Cybersecurity AI Beats Industry Leaders at Half the Cost

Microsoft unveiled MAI-Cyber-1-Flash and its Project Perception stack, pairing MDASH with GPT-5.4 for AI-driven cyber defense.

The company says the system outperforms Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 on CyberGym while cutting costs by about 50%.

Microsoft Defender will get a public preview on Aug. 3, with rollout planned across more Microsoft Security products over time.

If the claims hold, Microsoft could deepen its security lineup with cheaper automated protection and intensify competition in AI cybersecurity.
