AI companies are hiring thousands of electricians and carpenters, with OpenAI, Google, Meta and others offering record-high pay in industry history

Meta, Google, BlackRock and other AI firms are aggressively hiring and training electricians, carpenters, welders and plumbers to build and run AI data centers.

Indeed says related job postings have more than doubled over the past two years, showing how AI infrastructure spending is widening labor demand beyond software roles.

Meta plans to spend $115 million on skilled-trades training, while BlackRock plans $100 million to support training for 50,000 workers.

OpenAI, NVIDIA, NAVER and Anthropic are also pouring billions into compute infrastructure and long-term contracts, intensifying the race for talent and capacity.
