Honda Has a New Partner for the Advancement of Solid-State Battery Technology

Honda has formed a new partnership with U.S. battery maker QuantumScape to research solid-state batteries and manufacturing methods.

The deal follows Honda’s EV launch delays and its first annual loss in decades, underscoring pressure on its electric-vehicle strategy.

Honda appears to be shifting more of its EV focus toward solid-state technology as part of its carbon-neutrality goals.

If successful, solid-state batteries could deliver longer range, faster charging, lower costs, and better safety for EVs and other power-intensive uses.
