GTCO CEO Segun Agbaje said fintech firms are no longer seen as a threat because HabariPay has become a fast-growing digital payments engine.

The group chose to build its own payments infrastructure instead of resisting fintech disruption.

HabariPay’s 2025 profit after tax rose to N9.7 billion from N3.8 billion a year earlier, while operating income climbed to N12.9 billion.

The subsidiary is now GTCO’s strongest non-banking unit and supports the bank’s plan to keep more financial services revenue in-house.
