IBM cuts quantum error rates 10x as computer completes hard task in 15 minutes

IBM and University of Chicago researchers ran a hard circuit on 70 error-corrected logical qubits in about 15 minutes.

The team said the circuit was beyond practical classical simulation, strengthening the case for quantum advantage.

They also reported effective logical error rates about 10 times lower than the underlying physical error rates.

The result is notable because it combines going beyond classical methods with a way to verify the output is reliable.
