Path of Exile 2's 'Return of the Ancients' update improves the endgame

Grinding Gear Games will launch Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5, “Return of the Ancients,” on May 29.

The update adds five new endgame storylines, new league mechanics, bosses, uniques, and a runesmithing crafting system.

It also introduces two new ascendancies and other content designed to make the endgame feel more structured and rewarding.

The goal is to address long-standing complaints about PoE 2’s endgame grind by giving players clearer progression and a stronger endpoint.
