Spotify will let you use AI to make covers and remixes of your favourite songs, for an extra fee

Spotify is preparing a generative AI feature for Premium subscribers to create licensed covers and remixes of songs from participating artists.

The tool is being launched through a licensing deal with Universal Music Group, with artists able to opt in or out.

Participating artists would earn royalties on AI-generated versions, but pricing and release timing are still undecided.

The move could open a new fan-made music format and revenue stream while testing whether AI tracks can be managed without flooding the platform with spam.
