AI fully controls robots in “Gemini Robotics 2”; it can even tie strings

Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini Robotics 2, a robot AI model family built for whole-body motion, two-handed tasks, and multi-robot coordination.

The lineup also includes Gemini Robotics ER 2 for scene understanding and planning, plus Gemini Robotics On-Device 2 for local execution.

In demos, humanoid robot Apollo 2 carried objects while walking, tied a bag, and turned a light bulb.

But fine manipulation and some task accuracy still showed limitations, indicating more work is needed before broad deployment.
