Concerning Map Suggests The Worst May Be Yet to Come For Devastating European Fires

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre released a fire-risk map warning of very extreme wildfire conditions across much of western and central Europe from July 29 to August 2.

France, the Alpine region, the UK and Ireland are among the areas facing especially high fire danger.

Wildfire smoke and PM2.5 are worsening air quality and raising health concerns across the region.

UK and Spanish ministers linked the fires to climate change, underscoring calls for stronger climate action.
