NEC unveiled a world-first AI method that converts massive 3D point-cloud data into lightweight, high-resolution 3D data on-site in real time.

The system uses proprietary AI and Gaussian splatting, aiming to make remote inspection and measurement judgments more practical.

It could improve inspection efficiency, speed up issue detection, and help ease labor shortages in infrastructure operations.

NEC targets practical deployment in fiscal 2027, with potential use in municipalities, the energy sector, and expressway operations.
