At the House of Councillors, Mizuho Umemura asked how the government’s generative AI platform “Gennai” is being used.

Digital Minister Hisashi Matsumoto said staff used Gennai to draft his response, then checked the facts before he gave final approval.

Gennai, developed by the Digital Agency, is a pilot tool used across ministries to improve efficiency in legal research and Diet answer drafting.

The disclosure highlights the government’s move to use AI in parliamentary work, while raising attention to answer quality and information management.
