AMD’s Helios Rack Reportedly Costs 40% More Than NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin, Yet Microsoft Hedges Its Bets By Committing to Deploy Both

Microsoft said Azure will adopt next-generation rack-scale AI infrastructure from both AMD’s Helios and NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin.

Helios is reported to cost about $5.0 million to $5.5 million per rack, roughly 40% more than the expected $3.5 million to $4.0 million for NVIDIA’s Rubin rack.

The move reinforces Microsoft’s model-agnostic AI strategy across Azure and Copilot rather than relying on a single hardware vendor.
