European Designer Proposes 3D Printing a Moon Temple on Astronaut Base

An ESA-backed designer, Jorge Mañes Rubio, has proposed a 3D-printed Moon Temple for a future lunar base called Moon Base Alpha.

The temple is envisioned as a shared cultural and symbolic space for astronauts living at the Moon’s south pole.

The concept was developed with ESA’s Advanced Concepts Team as NASA and ESA explore long-term lunar settlement plans.

It highlights a shift in lunar base design from pure engineering toward human, cultural, and cooperative needs.
