After 21 Years, Gmail Finally Lets You Change Your Email Address. Here's How

Google is rolling out a long-requested Gmail feature that lets personal users in the US change their primary email address.

The old Gmail address stays as an alias, and access to mail, Drive files, photos, messages, and Google services continues under the new address.

The change is limited to once per year and is being enabled gradually starting in late March 2026.

Google says there may still be issues with Chromebook sign-ins, third-party logins, and Chrome Remote Desktop.
