Scientists Discover 42 “Ghost Pages” From Ancient New Testament Manuscript

Researchers digitally recovered text from 42 missing pages of the 6th-century Codex H New Testament manuscript.

Using multispectral imaging and ink-offset analysis on reused parchment, they revealed hidden biblical text and scribal corrections.

The find also produced the oldest known chapter lists for Paul’s Letters, offering rare evidence about early manuscript organization.

The work deepens understanding of how sacred texts were copied, altered, and reused in late antiquity.
