Robot camera "OpenDerm" maps moles in 3D to help detect lesions

OpenDerm is an open-source robotic 3D skin imaging system that automatically scans the body and builds detailed skin maps over time.

By comparing serial images, it makes new or changing moles easier to track, supporting earlier melanoma detection.

The hardware and software are publicly available on GitHub, and the reported cost per unit is about $8,500.

The system could make regular skin lesion monitoring more reproducible, shareable, and accessible for clinics and researchers.
