Airbus flies world’s longest-range jet targeting nonstop 22-hour Sydney-London trips

Airbus has completed the first flight of the A350-1000ULR in Toulouse for Qantas’s Project Sunrise.

The certification campaign will test the aircraft’s modified fuel system and long-range performance.

A rear center fuel tank extends range by about 1,000 nautical miles, enabling flights of up to 22 hours.

If certified, the jet could make nonstop Australia-Europe travel possible, including Sydney-to-London service.
