Perplexity's "Incognito Mode" is a "sham," lawsuit says

An anonymous user filed a proposed class action alleging Perplexity shared chat transcripts with Google and Meta without consent.

The complaint says chats—including emails and other identifiers—were shared even when users enabled Incognito Mode.

The lawsuit names Facebook Meta Pixel, Google Ads, Google DoubleClick, and possibly Meta Conversions API as embedded trackers.

The proposed class covers chats from Dec 7, 2022 to Feb 4, 2026 and excludes Perplexity Pro and Max subscribers.

Plaintiff seeks an injunction and claims statutory damages could exceed $5,000 per violation.
