Google, Meta and Microsoft are getting worker data from sneaky bossware tools, report says

A Northeastern University study found nine employee-monitoring apps shared worker data with Google, Meta, Microsoft, and other third parties.

The apps reportedly exposed names, emails, employer details, and activity data through external domains tied to major tech and ad networks.

Some platforms also collected precise location data in the background, raising additional privacy concerns for workers.

The findings show workplace surveillance software can leak employee information beyond the employer to outside advertisers and tech companies.
