Government prioritizes 2.5 million-pyeong site of Gwangju Military Airport as candidate for semiconductor national industrial complex in Honam

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has designated about 2.5 million pyeong around the Gwangju military airport site as the candidate location for the Honam region semiconductor advanced national industrial complex.

The decision was approved by the Industrial Location Policy Deliberation Committee, marking the start of the national industrial complex designation process.

The government plans to consider further expansion based on corporate demand and the broader industrial ecosystem.

The project is aimed at attracting major investment from companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix and building a semiconductor hub in southwest Korea.
