The tech rivalry between China and Europe has just opened another front: a legal battle over control of Nexperia

Wingtech Technology has sued Nexperia and five related entities in a Guangdong court, seeking about 8 billion yuan in provisional damages and restored control of the Dutch chipmaker.

The lawsuit comes after the Dutch government intervened in Nexperia over concerns that technology and operations were shifting toward China.

Wingtech is also citing China’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, escalating a dispute that spans ownership, IP control, and state intervention.

Nexperia says the court has not yet opened the case for trial and has criticized Wingtech’s approach.

The clash has already weighed on Wingtech’s financial results and highlights China-Europe tensions in the semiconductor supply chain.
