"Even draft responses created" 100,000 government employees can now use the generative AI "Gennai" as the Digital Agency launches a large-scale pilot

The Digital Agency has launched a large-scale pilot of its in-house generative AI environment, Gennai, for government employees.

About 100,000 users can access it from the 29th, with plans to expand to roughly 180,000 across all ministries and agencies.

The pilot will run through March 2027 and is designed for secure use on a closed network.

Gennai is already being used for tasks such as legal research and drafting initial versions of Diet answers.
