OpenAI launches a Codex plugin that runs inside Anthropic's Claude Code

OpenAI released a plugin that embeds Codex into Anthropic's Claude Code to run code reviews and handoffs.

The plugin offers standard review, adversarial review, and background task handoff and requires ChatGPT subscription or an OpenAI API key and Node.js 18.18+.

The plugin uses the local Codex installation, runs reviews on OpenAI's infrastructure, and is hosted at openai/codex-plugin-cc on GitHub with over 3,700 stars.

The release aligns with OpenAI's reported shift to focus on coding tools and plans to merge ChatGPT, Codex, and Atlas into one desktop app.
