OpenAI breaks out of exclusivity agreements in its partnership with Microsoft

OpenAI and Microsoft revised their long-term partnership to loosen cloud and licensing exclusivity.

OpenAI can now offer models and services across multiple cloud providers, expanding its distribution options beyond Azure.

Microsoft’s licensing rights are no longer exclusive through 2032, and its revenue share from OpenAI has ended.

OpenAI will keep making capped payments to Microsoft through 2030 under the updated arrangement.
