Poland files permit for first nuclear plant with three US reactors, aims 2036 launch

Poland’s state-owned PEJ submitted a construction permit application for its first nuclear plant to the National Atomic Energy Agency this week.

The filing includes over 40,000 pages of technical, safety, and environmental documentation, including a Preliminary Safety Analysis Report.

Poland selected Westinghouse AP1000 reactors in a three-unit plan at Choczewo and expects the first unit to start operations in 2036 after construction begins in 2028.
