Google prepares Agent Mode on Gemini to tackle complex tasks

Leaked builds and screenshots suggest Google is adding a standalone Agent Mode to Gemini.

The mode would handle recurring, multi-step productivity work, with skills and scheduled actions for tasks like email triage, meeting prep, and slide creation.

It may appear as a dedicated tab in Gemini and could be announced at Google I/O.

The move positions Gemini more like a persistent work assistant and puts it in closer competition with Microsoft Copilot Tasks.
