Filmmaking Beyond the ‘Slop’ of Generative AI

Google Labs screened short films from its fourth Flow Sessions residency at Metrograph, showcasing Flow as a collaborative AI tool for filmmakers.

The company says Flow helps artists develop personal, emotionally rich short films while streamlining parts of the production process.

By involving creators like Brianna Doyle and Ikenna Mokwe in the residency, Google wants artists to help shape the tools.

The message is that generative AI can act as a creative assistant for independent film, not just a generator of low-quality online content.
