Unmanned underwater vehicle that can detect mines, conduct surveys unveiled by US firm

Klein Marine Systems has unveiled MANTIS, a compact unmanned underwater vehicle for mine countermeasures, search and recovery, surveys, and environmental mapping.

The UUV combines side scan sonar, embedded electronics, and real-time onboard processing to deliver high-resolution imagery at multiple frequencies.

Klein says MANTIS can improve underwater mine-hunting and inspection work while using a smaller payload footprint.

The system works with the company’s SonarPro NXT software for review and analysis of collected data.
