The Software Freedom Conservancy says Bambu Lab violated AGPLv3 by making a required networking component proprietary.

The dispute centers on Paweł Jarczak’s OrcaSlicer fork, which restored cloud printing features without using Bambu Connect.

Bambu Lab defended its security and anti-circumvention terms, while open-source and right-to-repair advocates rallied behind the developer.

The case could set an important precedent for how open-source licenses apply to 3D printer software and cloud-connected hardware.
