Metallium awarded Phase II SBIR contract for recovering critical minerals from e-waste

The Defense Logistics Agency awarded Flash Metals Texas a Phase II SBIR contract to advance Metallium’s e-waste mineral recovery process.

The $1 million award will support development of Flash Joule Heating to extract gallium and germanium from electronic waste.

Work over the next 12 months aims to move the technology toward pilot-scale readiness at the Texas Technology Campus.

The project could strengthen U.S. supply chains for two critical minerals used in defense and semiconductor applications.
