Galicia has a gold mine in the sea, and it’s not just seafood: it wants to harness the infinite energy of the waves

The Xunta has launched Innomar, a floating prototype to test wave energy at Punta Langosteira in Galicia.

The platform will connect marine energy devices, send electricity ashore, and measure environmental variables in real conditions.

By validating technology in a real maritime setting, the project aims to speed up wave-energy deployment and position Galicia as a European leader.

It is also expected to support decarbonization and greater industrial and energy sovereignty.
