Instagram’s new Instants app is basically Snapchat all over again

Instagram is testing Instants, a standalone app for sharing disappearing photos and short videos.

The app lets users send content that vanishes after viewing or expires after 24 hours.

It is available only in select markets and is aimed at mutual followers and close friends.

The move echoes Snapchat-style ephemeral messaging and Instagram’s broader shift toward private sharing.
