Google is changing how Gemini usage limits work

Google says Gemini will move from daily prompt caps to compute-based usage limits that account for prompt complexity, features used, and conversation length.

The new system adds five-hour and weekly caps, with standard allowances for free users and higher limits for AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.

Users who hit their limit will be moved to a smaller model, and eligible subscribers can buy AI credits to continue working.

The change makes Gemini’s rules closer to rival AI tools and may push heavy users toward higher-priced plans or paid credits.
