Sega Explains Why Exactly It Cancelled Its "Super Game"

Sega has cancelled its planned “Super Game” online title.

The project, first announced in 2019 as a major AAA online initiative, was stopped after R&D and feasibility review in fiscal 2026.

Sega cited tougher competition, similar rival games, and its own business conditions as reasons for ending the project.

The company said the cancellation did not add extra costs, and it signals a shift in Sega’s growth strategy.
