This smart pillow ensures you never sleep through an emergency alarm, or even a phone call

Researchers at Nottingham Trent University developed a washable smart pillow sleeve that fits over a standard pillow.

The textile sleeve uses a microcontroller and haptic actuators to deliver distinct vibration patterns for different alerts, such as alarms or phone calls.

Unlike bulky under-pillow devices, the design is thin and wearable, aiming to improve nighttime accessibility and safety for deaf and deaf-blind users.

The team presented the work at the ACM CHI conference in Barcelona.
