NASA’s Roman Space Telescope Could Finally Find the Milky Way’s Missing Neutron Stars

A new study says NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope could spot hidden isolated neutron stars in the Milky Way.

The telescope would use astrometric microlensing, a subtle shift in a background star’s position, to reveal these objects.

Researchers say Roman may also measure the masses of some neutron stars, not just detect them.

That could improve estimates of how many neutron stars exist and how supernovae shape the Galaxy.
