A Study Shows That Cellphone Bans Didn't Improve US Students' Test Scores

A new NBER study of phone bans at more than 40,000 schools found near-zero impact on student test scores.

The study did see a short-term rise in disciplinary issues and a temporary dip in well-being, but those effects faded over time.

Attendance, classroom attention, and perceived bullying changed very little after bans were adopted.

The findings arrive as countries including France, South Korea, and the UK expand smartphone restrictions in schools.
