Polestar 3 production consolidated to the US to keep Volvo factory busy

Volvo and Polestar said they will move all Polestar 3 production to the Charleston, South Carolina, plant.

The Polestar 3 had also been built at a Chengdu, China, factory until this change.

Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson said the consolidation will generate efficiencies and reflects confidence in the Charleston plant.

Volvo reported a 7% sales decline in 2025 while Polestar reported a 34% sales increase the same year.
