Papers, Please creator Lucas Pope says he no longer reveals what he’s working on in case it’s stolen or ‘slurped up by AI’

Lucas Pope, creator of Papers, Please and Return of the Obra Dinn, no longer reveals ongoing projects.

He used to share what he was working on but now keeps projects private due to fear of copying.

Pope worries ideas will be copied or “slurped up” by AI or others before he finishes them.

He has no aspirations to build a development team and prefers working solo—drawing, writing songs, and coding.

Because of prior critical success, he’s wary of announcing a major new game and wants production to finish efficiently.
