Tariffs didn’t bring manufacturing jobs back to the US

Altana CEO Evan Smith said recent U.S. tariffs have not brought manufacturing jobs back.

He said shifting trade policy and geopolitical shocks are making global supply chains more complex and risky.

Smith pointed to disruptions such as the Strait of Hormuz as examples of how fragile global trade has become.

He also said agentic AI is changing how Altana builds software for trade and supply-chain customers.
