Researchers at National Taipei University of Technology compared both systems at the same 100-MWp scale using lifecycle assessment.

Seawater cooling helped the floating system perform better and deliver larger carbon emissions reductions over time.

The results point to offshore floating solar as a promising option for land-scarce countries seeking more clean power without using farmland or urban land.
