Infrasound waves stop kitchen fires, but can they replace sprinklers?

Sonic Fire Tech demonstrated an AI-triggered infrasound system that extinguished a grease fire in seconds in Concord, California.

The company says acoustic fire suppression could replace interior residential sprinklers and be useful in commercial kitchens and data centers.

It is also pitching the technology for wildland firefighting, but experts say that use is far from proven.

Fire officials and analysts remain skeptical that the system is ready to replace traditional sprinklers for home use.
