World’s first megawatt-class hydrogen turboprop engine completes maiden flight test

A megawatt-class hydrogen-fueled turboprop engine completed its maiden flight test.

The test flight took place at an airport in Zhuzhou, Hunan province.

The domestically developed AEP100 engine powered the aircraft.

The 16-minute flight covered about 36 km at roughly 220 km/h and reached about 300 m altitude.

The engine operated smoothly; all planned maneuvers were completed and the aircraft landed safely.
