Threads finally brings messaging to the web

Threads is rolling out direct messaging on the web, bringing desktop users one-on-one and group chats.

The update also adds message requests, search, and the ability to start new chats from the browser.

Meta said web messaging was the most requested feature after DMs launched in July 2025.

The rollout follows growing weekly messaging activity and the recent launch of Live Chats.
