Japan’s Most Ambitious Chip Project Surfaces as Fujitsu Pairs With Rapidus to Build One of the World’s First 1.4nm Chips

Fujitsu plans to develop an NPU built on a 1.4nm process and pair it with its Monaka CPU platform.

Rapidus will handle fab operations and aims to begin trial 1.4nm production as soon as 2029.

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is expected to subsidize part of the development costs.
