Autonomous buses operating between Tokyo and Yurakucho; no reservation required, fare free

Tokyo Metropolitan Government will run a free Level 2 autonomous shuttle around Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho from June 23 to July 2.

The service will operate without reservations or a timetable, at roughly 40- to 50-minute intervals, using a 16-seat BYD J6 bus.

Passengers will also be surveyed to help evaluate the service’s usefulness and future deployment.

The trial aims to address driver shortages in public transport and inform the potential introduction of more advanced Level 4 mobility services.
