Chrome finally gets vertical tabs, plus an improved Reading Mode

Chrome may be the most popular browser by a large margin.

A desktop update rolling out from April 7 adds vertical tabs and an improved Reading Mode.

Vertical tabs move the tab strip to a left sidebar and can be enabled by right‑clicking a window and choosing "Show Tabs Vertically".

Vertical tabs show full page titles, can collapse to a favicon column, and—Google says—make tab groups easier to manage.

Reading Mode can be launched from a right‑click or the address bar, expands to full‑page, and adds text‑to‑speech plus typography and playback controls.
