Meitetsu Hiromi Line's Shin-Kani–Mitake section to be discontinued in April 2029

Nagoya Railroad will abolish the Hiromi Line section between Shin-Kani and Mitake on April 1, 2029.

The decision follows the end of talks with local governments to keep the line through a so-called quasi public-private split scheme, and Meitetsu plans to file the required notice with the transport ministry.

The line has long supported regional mobility, but falling ridership, aging infrastructure, and growing municipal costs made continued operation difficult.

Next steps will focus on securing substitute transport and reworking mobility options for local residents.
