Microsoft Copilot Cowork takes on multi-step AI automation

Microsoft announced Copilot Cowork in the Microsoft 365 Frontier program, enabling autonomous multi-step workflows across Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

The feature integrates Anthropic’s Cowork technology and uses a multi-model Researcher that pairs GPT and Claude to critique outputs.

Microsoft said the critique layer raised the Researcher’s DRACO benchmark score by 13.8 percent.

Copilot Cowork runs inside the Work IQ framework and preserves human oversight while executing tasks without step-by-step prompts.

The capability is available to Frontier participants now and is expected to be part of a future E7 Microsoft 365 tier.
